One of the blessings within the Islamic Ummah is the blessing of Prophethood. Prophet Muhammad(saw) is the Seal of all of the Prophets and is also the last law bearing Prophet, meaning the last Prophet to bring a Shariah, or a new Law. However, we cannot forget that within the Religion of Islam, the possibility of Sub ordinate Prophets is open, and the Holy Prophet Muhammad(Saw) himself made clear prophecies that the Latter Day Messiah would be a Prophet of Allah.

For Example here is one hadith of sahih Muslim:

In this hadith, the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw)  has called the latter day messiah, who is also given the title of Isa Ibn Maryam a Prophet of Allah four times. This is all in one single hadith. How can a sincere Muslim reject the Prophet Muhammad(saw)even after he repeated himself three times? It is clear that Ahmad(as) is indeed this messiah, so he indeed has the title of a prophet as well, but an ummati nabi.

Must read and comments + feedback welcomed!
Many have spread the lie that the Ahmadi Muslims do not believe the Prophet Muhammad(saw) to be the seal of all the Prophets. In reality, every Ahmadi Muslim has to have this belief. Sadly, the non Ahmadi Muslims interpret this verse in a way where it contradicts the Qur’an. The word khatam, whenever applied to a group, refers to a rank and the word has been used throughout the history of the Arabic language to refer to the best or greatest. Here are some examples:

Hazrat Ali is called khatam-ul-Auliya, the chief of the friends of Allah, meaning the chief of the saints (Tafsir saifi, Surah Al Ahzab)

Imam Suyuti was called Khatam-ul-Muhaddithin, the cheif of the specialists in Ahadith (Title page of Tafsi Itqan)

In the same way the Holy Prophet(saw) is the Greatest of all of the Prophets, but this does not mean that a Prophet would not come under him as he himself prophesied that a Messiah would come under him. We need to remember that the Promised Messiah(as)’s prophethood is under this seal, and he is a sub ordinate Prophet to revive the original teachings of Islam. Feel free to ask questions!

“The charge advanced against me and my Jama‘at, that wedo not believe in the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings
of Allah be upon him) as the Seal of Prophets, is altogetherfalse. The strength, certainty, comprehension and insight with which we acknowledge and believe in the
Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
as the Seal of the Prophets, cannot even be dreamed of
by the other Muslims; they do not have the capacity to
comprehend the reality and the mystery comprised in the
Seal of Prophethood. They have merely heard an expression from their ancestors but they are unaware of its import and do not know what it signifies and what is meant by believing in it. But we believe with full comprehension—and God Almighty knows this well—that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Seal of the Prophets. God Almighty has disclosed the reality of the Seal of Prophethood in such a manner that we derive special delight from its contemplation which cannot be conceived of by anyone except those who have drunk deep at this fountain.
We can illustrate the Seal of Prophethood by the example
of the moon, which begins as a crescent and arrives at its
perfection on the fourteenth night when it is called the
full moon. In the same manner the excellences of
Prophethood reached their climax in the Holy Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.) Those who believe that Prophethood has been closed compulsorily,
and that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah
be upon him) should not be regarded as being superior
even to the Prophet Jonas have not understood the reality
of the Seal of Prophethood and do not have true knowledge of his superiority and excellences. Despite their own ignorance and lack of understanding, they charge us with denying the Seal of Prophethood. What shall I say concerning such invalids and how shall I express my pity
for them!”

No Prophet After Me ? : https://www.instagram.com/p/BiIdI-dHMax/?taken-by=ahmadianswers

  • When the non Ahmadi Muslims realize that they are wrong on their definition of “Seal of the Prophets” and that it does not mean that another Prophet can come, they switch to the ahadith. Before going into the ahadith it is important to know that the seal of Prophets can have a meaning of last, in the sense that the Prophet Muhammad (saw) was the best Prophet and in this way his law has brought an end to all previous laws. –
The hadith the non Ahmadi Muslims quote is “There is no Prophet after me”. The Arabic of the hadith is “la nabiyya ba’di”. In the same way Bukhari has a hadith with similar wording which states “La qasar ba’dahu” meaning that there would be no Caesar after him. However there were more Caesars after that specific Caesar who was mentioned. This hadith is explained in Fathul Bari to mean that there would be no Caesar who would rule as this one ruled. In the same way the hadith la nabiyya badi is that there will be no prophet like the Prophet (saw) to ever come. No Prophet can come against his shariah as his teaching is the last teaching. The word “la” in the hadith is used to negate the possibility of someone greater coming and this idiom is used throughout the Arabic language. For example, an idiom states “There is no young man except Ali, and no sword except the Dhulfiqar”. This obviously does not mean that there were no young men apart from Hadhrat Ali nor any swords apart from Dhulfiqar.

Hadhrat Muhammad (saw) similarly said there is no migration after this victory of ours. Hadhrat Imam Razi (rh) explained this hadith by saying that the Prophet(sa) was referring to a specific victory. In the same way this hadith does not mean all prophethood has ended, rather only refers to prophethood which brings a law abrogating the Qur’an.
  • Now the same hadith also uses the word “ba’d”. The maulvis sadly confuse Arabic with Urdu and therefore misinterpret this hadith. The Holy Prophet(saw) has throughout his life used the word “ba’d” to mean against me, and the Qur’an uses it in the same way. In Bukhari the Prophet(saw) said to false claimants to prophethood will come “after me” but both came during his life. He used the words “After me” to mean “against my shariah and in opposition to me” rather than after in time.

Now the interpretation of Ahmadi Muslims is in line with the Qur’an and other ahadith of the Prophet(saw). Firstly, the Qur’an itself says that a Prophet in the ummah can come (7:36) and (4:70). There are many more verses that prove this including the great prophecy of Surah Jumah. Secondly, the ahadith themselves prophesy the coming of a Prophet and all Muslims are waiting for that Prophet. For example in Sahih Muslim Hadith 2937a , the Prophet(saw) called the Messiah a prophet four times. –
They believe Hadhrat Isa(as) will come from the heavens as a Prophet and kill all the pigs and break all the crosses while we believe Isa(as) has died as the Qur’an states, and that our Messiah was to be from among the ummah as the Prophet(sa) said many times. In fact, the Prophet(saw) even described the complexions of both the messiah sent to Bani Israel and the one who was to come for the Muslims as completely different. –
Some also misinterpret a hadith where the Prophet(saw) said I am the last of the Prophets. They cut the hadith in half and leave out the second part which states that “and my mosque is the last of mosques”. This further shows that the Prophet(saw) was only saying that no Prophet would come who contradicts his teachings and no mosque could be called a mosque that offends the status of the greatest mosque. The non Ahmadis should be careful before persecuting innocent Muslims in the name of their mosques!
  • All sahaba of the Prophet(saw) had the same view as Ahmadi Muslims that yes the Prophet(saw) is the last law bearing prophet, but the messiah had to come as a prophet under Islam. Now half of Islam comes from Hadhrat Aisha(ra) and she also supports the Ahmadi viewpoint. She stated : “Say he (the Prophet(saw)) is the seal of all prophets but do not say there is no prophet after him” (Musanaf Ibn Abi Shayba, also in Durr-e-Manthur and many more books)

Now the shocking part is that the non Ahmadi Muslim scholars also support our view, including early saints of Islam. For example, Hadhrat Ibn Arabi(rh) had a similar view. Hadhrat Imam Shirani (rh) also had this view. Imam Muhammad Tahir also supported us. Hadhrat Qasim Nanotwi, known as the leader of the Deobandis also supported us. Hadhrat Imam Suyuti also supported us. Ibn Kathir also held the view that the Messiah would be a Prophet. Hadhrat Nawwab Siddiq Hassan Khan also supported us. Hadhrat Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ali Hussain al Hakim al Tirmidhi also supported us. Al Imam Ibn Qutaybah also supported us. Hadhrat Mulla Ali Qari also supported us. Hadhrat Shah Waliullah Dehlvi also supported us. The truth is the maulvis have only tried to ruin the name of Islam and have concocted a false view that the old nations like Bani Israel had countless of Prophets after Moses, yet the greatest Prophet was bereft of not only physical sons, but also a spiritual progeny.
