The Debate of Jarud and the People of Bahrain

A beautiful incident which proves that Isa^as has died, is the incident of Bahrain in regards to the companion Hazrat Jarudra. In the seerat of the Holy Prophet Muhammad^saw, written by Muhammad Ibn Abdul Wahhab who is a well known scholar, known as the founder of Wahhabism, it is narrated:

أنه قال : ما شهادتكم على موسى ؟ قالوا : نشهد أنه رسول الله . قال : فما شهادتكم على عيسى ؟ قالوا : نشهد أنه رسول الله قال وأنا أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا عبده ورسوله . عاش كما عاشوا ، ومات كما ماتوا . وأتحمل شهادة من أبى أن يشهد على ذلك منكم . فلم يرتد من عبد القيس أحد .

“Some people of Bahrain turned apostate at the death of Holy Prophetsaw on the premise that had he been a Prophet he would have not died. At this eve Jarudra addressed them saying, what testimony do you have in regards to Moses(as)? They replied: “We bear witness that he was Allah’s messenger.” Hadhrat Jarood asked again, “What is your testimony in regards to Jesus(as)? They replied “We bear witness that he was a Messenger of Allah.” Then Hazrat Jarud said “I also bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and Muhammad (saw) was His Servant and Messenger. And he remained alive as they lived and he passed away like they passed away” (Mukhtasar Sirat Al-Rasul p.187 by Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab. Darul Arabiya Beirut Lebanon)

This statement of Hazrat Jarudra is also put under the verse 145 of Chapter 3 of the Holy Qur’an which makes it clear that all Prophets before Muhammad^saw have already died. Allah States:

وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهِ الرُّسُلُ ۚ أَفَإِنْ مَاتَ أَوْ قُتِلَ انْقَلَبْتُمْ عَلَىٰ أَعْقَابِكُمْ ۚ وَمَنْ يَنْقَلِبْ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ فَلَنْ يَضُرَّ اللَّهَ شَيْئًا ۗ وَسَيَجْزِي اللَّهُ الشَّاكِرِينَ{145}

And Muhammad is only a Messenger.Verily, all Messengers have passed away before him. If then he die or be slain, will you turn back on your heels? And he who turns back on his heels shall not harm Allah at all. And Allah will certainly reward the grateful. (Chapter 3 verse 145)

This incident mentioned is a further proof for this as well, as Jarud^ra makes it clear that Isa^as and Moses^as have both died just like the Holy Prophet^saw
