Denying Prophethood

Denying Prophethood

In the Qur’an, Allah has Clearly denied those who try to claim that no prophet shall ever come. Allah States in the Qur’an:

728

“And indeed they thought, even as you think, that Allah would never raise any Messenger.” (Chapter 72 Verse 8)

Allah also States:

4035

“And Joseph did come to you before with clear proofs, but you ceased not to be in doubt concerning that with which he came to you till, when he died, you said: ‘Allah will never raise up a Messenger after him.’ Thus does Allah adjudge as lost those who transgress, and are doubters” (Chapter 40 Verse 35)

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad(ra) states:

“The verse purports to say that Prophets have been coming in the world from time immemorial but men are so constituted that whenever a prophet came they rejected and opposed him and when he died they said that no more prophets would come and that the door of revelation was shut for ever. This attitude of disbelievers has led to the rejection of every prophet” (Five volume Commentary of the Holy Qur’an, Page 2303)

These ayahs themselves show that the belief of prophethood being ended, is not an Islamic belief nor a belief which Allah has ever introduced to us. This belief is said by the people themselves and these people are those who are among the transgressors and the doubters. In the same way, despite all of the prophecies of a latter day messiah who would come as a prophet according to the Holy Prophet Muhammad(saw), majority of the Muslims rejected these sayings and started to say similar to the ones before them “Allah will never raise a messenger after him”.
