Trip to Delhi?

Trip to Delhi

One of the allegations of the non-Ahmadi Muslims is that on December 6, 1905 Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) had a dream that he had gone to Delhi and had returned safe. Then the following revelation flowed from him tongue:

Meaning all praise belongs to Allah who has brought me safe.

The anti-Ahmadis allege that because Hadrat Ahmad (as) did not reach Delhi before his death, this is a failed prophecy God forbid. Firstly, this was a dream of Hadrat Ahmad (as), and dreams often have interpretations. We see this throughout the Qur’an and Ahadith. Hadrat Ahmad (as) had never claimed that this dream meant that he himself would most certainly enter Delhi.

The allegation of the non-Ahmadi Muslims suggests that if a Prophet see’s a dream, it must be fulfilled literally in the person they have seen literally. This would mean that the Prophet Muhammad (sa) cannot be a truthful Prophet God forbid.

Islam Will Prevail

In the Qur’an Allah States:

هُوَ الَّذِي أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ

He it is Who has sent His Messenger with the guidance and the Religion of Truth, that He may cause it to prevail over all religions, even if those who associate partners with God hate it. (Chapter 61 Verse 10)

In this verse, Allah says it is the Prophet Muhammad (sa) through which the religion of Islam will prevail over all religions. However, this did not take place in the time of the Prophet Muhammad (sa) and the Prophet Muhammad (sa) himself prophesied that this would be a sign for the Messiah.

In this hadith of Abu Dawud, the Prophet Muhammad (sa) said that it would be in the time of the Messiah when all religions would perish except Islam.

All commentators agree that this would happen in the time of the Messiah who would be a follower of the Prophet Muhammad (sa).

Treasures of the World Placed in My Hand

In an authentic hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari, the Prophet Muhammad (sa) stated:

Abu Huraira said that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “I have been sent with ‘Jawami-al-Kalim ‘ (the shortest expression with the widest meaning) and have been made victorious with awe (cast in my enemy’s hearts), and while I was sleeping, I saw that the keys of the treasures of the world were placed in my hand.” Abu Huraira added: Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) has gone, and you people are utilizing those treasures, or digging those treasures out.” or said a similar sentence. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith #7273)

In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (sa) saw these treasures in his own hand and these are the words he used. However, we know it was fulfilled in his companions and followers and we continue to see it fulfilled today. According to the logic of the anti-Ahmadis this was also a failed prophecy, God forbid.

Granted the Keys of Kingdom of Syria, Persia and Yemen

The Prophet Muhammad (sa) made a grand prophecy regarding the keys of Syria, Persia and Yemen. The following is narrated in a hadith of Musnad Ahmad:

“The Prophet Muhammad (sa) commanded us to dig the trench. While we were digging, we came across a big rock that the iron axe could not break. We reported to the Prophet Muhammad (sa) and he came to us. Awf (one of then narrators said), “I suppose he said, ‘He put his cloak and went to the rock’. Then he (sa) took the pickaxe and said: “In the name of Allah” and struck a blow, breaking a third of the rock. He (sa) said, God is the Greatest, I have been given the keys of Ash-Sham, and by Allah, I can see its red palaces from where I am now,” Then he (sa) said, “In the name of Allah” and struck another blow breaking another third of thro ck. He (sa) said, “God is the Greatest! I have been given the keys of Persia and by Allah, I can now see the white Palace of Madain (capital of Persia) from where I am now.”. Then he (sa) said, “In the name of Allah”, and struck a blow and removed the remaining part of the rock. He (sa) said, “God is the Greatest! I have been given the keys of Yemen, and by Allah, I can see the gates of San’a (capital of Yemen) from where I am now”

In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (sa) prophesied that he himself would achieve this victory. However, we see that this was fulfilled in the time of Hadrat Umar (ra), who was his Khalifa. According to the logic of the anti-Ahmadis, the Prophet Muhammad (sa)’s prophecy was not fulfilled God forbid.

Two Liars Destroyed by the Prophet Muhammad (sa)

The Prophet Muhammad (sa) had a dream that he blew on two golden bangles, which meant that two liars would be destroyed. The hadith of Sahih al-Bukhari mentions the following:

بَيْنَا أَنَا نَائِمٌ رَأَيْتُ أَنَّهُ وُضِعَ فِي يَدَىَّ سِوَارَانِ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ، فَفُظِعْتُهُمَا وَكَرِهْتُهُمَا، فَأُذِنَ لِي، فَنَفَخْتُهُمَا فَطَارَا، فَأَوَّلْتُهُمَا كَذَّابَيْنِ يَخْرُجَانِ

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “While I was sleeping, two golden bangles were put in my two hands, so I got scared (frightened) and disliked it, but I was given permission to blow them off, and they flew away. I interpret it as a symbol of two liars who will appear.” ‘Ubaidullah said, “One of them was Al-`Ansi who was killed by Fairuz at Yemen and the other was Musailama (at Najd) .(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith#7034)

In this dream, the Prophet Muhammad (sa) himself blew on the golden bangles. However, we know that Musailama was destroyed in the time of Hadrat Abu Bakr (ra).

Dream of Abu Jahl Accepting Islam

The Prophet Muhammad (sa) also had a dream of Abu Jahl accepting Islam. According to the anti-Ahmadis, this prophecy failed because Abu Jahl never accepted Islam. This dream was actually fulfilled in Ikrimah when he accepted Islam.

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) also accepted this as an authentic incident which took place and explained that the Prophet Muhammad (sa) actually thought this was first fulfilled in Khalid bin Walid (ra).

Hadrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) has written:

“Some of the dreams of a Prophet are fulfilled through him in his own time, and others are fulfilled through a descendant or a follower of his. For instance, the Holy Prophet, on whom be the peace and blessings of Allah, was given the keys of the treasuries of Caesar and Chosroes and these countries were conquered in the time of Hadrat ‘Umar (ra)” (Al-Hakam, vol. 9, no. 32, September 19, 1905, p. 3)

Fulfillment of the Prophecy

Note by Maulana Abdul Latif Bahawalpuri: Hadrat AmirulMu’minin Khalifatul Masih IIaba writes: After this revelation, the Promised Messiahas did not go to Delhi. His last journey to Delhi was in 1905. Thus this revelation contained a prophecy that the person resembling him would travel to Delhi and people will hurl stones at him. I was the one, whom Allah has made to sit on the seat of the Promised Messiahas, and who was made the target of stones. But Almighty Allah decreed that He would bring him, namely his resemblance, back safely… The expression that ‘Who brought me safe’ indicates that there would be others who would suffer.
