Sun Rising From The West

Another sign of the Promised Messiah^as and the end times was that the sun would rise from the west. The Holy Prophet Muhammad^saw stated:

‏ بَادِرُوا بِالأَعْمَالِ سِتًّا طُلُوعَ الشَّمْسِ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا

Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) having said: Hasten to do good deeds before six things happen: the rising of the sun from the west… (Sahih Muslim Hadith #2947 a)

Ahmadi Muslims wholeheartedly believe in this prophecy, but in a way it would not contraict the Qur’an. Allah Has Stated:

سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ فِي الَّذِينَ خَلَوْا مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا {63}

Such has been the way of Allah in the case of those who passed away before, and thou wilt never find a change in the way of Allah.(Chapter 33 Verse 63)

Allah also States:

سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ ۖ وَلَنْ تَجِدَ لِسُنَّةِ اللَّهِ تَبْدِيلًا {24}

Such is the law of Allah that has been in operation before; and thou shalt not find any change in the law of Allah.(Chapter 48 Verse 24)

It is clear from the Holy Qur’an that there will never be a change in the Law of Allah. This itself proves that the Sun would not physically ise from the West as the Law of Allah is that it would rise from the East only. Frthermore Allah has made it clear that the sun only rises from the East and so has Prophet Abraham^as. Allah States:

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى الَّذِي حَاجَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ فِي رَبِّهِ أَنْ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ الْمُلْكَ إِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ رَبِّيَ الَّذِي يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ قَالَ أَنَا أُحْيِي وَأُمِيتُ ۖ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْتِي بِالشَّمْسِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَأْتِ بِهَا مِنَ الْمَغْرِبِ فَبُهِتَ الَّذِي كَفَرَ ۗ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ {259}

Hast thou not heard of him who disputed with Abraham about his Lord, because Allah had given him kingdom? When Abraham said, ‘My Lord is He Who gives life and causes death,’ he said, ‘I also give life and cause death.’ Abraham said, ‘Well, Allah brings the sun from the East; bring it thou from the West.’ Thereupon the infidel was dumbfounded. And Allah guides not the unjust people.(Chapter 2 Verse 259)

Allah has Made it clear in the Holy Qur’an tht He only raises the sun from the East. The Qur’an is the perfect book and has no contradiction in it. Furthermore, the sun physically rising from the west would only prove the King and his god, Madruk to be correct and would make the argument of Abraham^as useless. This argument of Abraham^as made the King dumbounded according to the Qur’an which shows that the sun will always rise in the East. Ahmadi Muslims believe in this prophecy and believe it to be fulfilled as well. Now its clear that we cannot make this prophecy literal as that would contradict the Qur’an. Qur”an has made it clear that the sun will alwys rise from the Est and this is the law which will never be changed.

Allah states in the Qur’an in regards to the Holy Prophet^saw:

وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى اللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَسِرَاجًا مُنِيرًا {47}

And as a Summoner unto Allah by His command, and as a Lamp that givesbright light.(Chapter 33 Verse 47)

Now the meaning of the sun rising from the west, in reality refers to Islam and the name of the Holy Prophet Muhammad^saw rising in the west. If we look at the time of Ahmad^as, this was the age Islam in reality spread to the west and this was the time when the name of the Prophet Muhammad^saw was shining more than ever before, because of the advancements the world went through. The Holy Prophet^saw is called “Sirajan Muneera” which proves that he is the one who gives life and is a shining light rather than a physical sun.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad^as stated:”Similarly, the rising of the sun from the west which will take place, we believe in it. However, what has been shown to me in a vision is that the rising of the sun from the west means that the Western countries which have been involved in the darkness of unbelief and misguidance from ancient times will be illuminated by the sun of guidance and will receive a share of Islam.” -(Izala-e-Auham, page 515, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 3, Pages 376-377)

He also Stated:

I saw [in a vision] that I was standing on a pulpit in the city of London and was setting forth the truth of Islam in the English language, in a very well reasoned address. Thereafter, I caught several birds who were sitting upon small trees and were of white colour and their bodies resembled the bodies of partridges. I interpreted this vision as meaning that though I would not be able to travel to that country, my writings will be published among them and many righteous English people will be attracted by the truth.
