Dajjal And Gog And Magog

Dajjal And Gog And Magog

Two of the greatest signs in regards to the end times which were prophesied by the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw, were Dajjal and Gog and Magog. Firstly, we find the mention of the word Dajjal in many ahadith but not in the Qur’an. Gog and Magog are on the other hand mentioned in both the Qur’an and the ahadith. The word Dajjal comes from the word “dajala” which means “he covered”. There are many reasons of why the Prophet Muhammadsaw used the term Dajjal.

One reason is that it shows the being of Dajjal as a liar who would conceal or cover the reality with falsehood. A second interpretation of the word is that he would cover the earth with large numbers. A third meaning is that he would spread beliefs which are full of falsehood, and spread them over the entire world. A final view is also that it would state things opposite to its intentions. In summary, it is known to be the greatest trial upon mankind. The terms Ya’juj (Gog) and Ma’juj (Magog) both come from the word ajj or ajij which refers to the flaming of fire. Imam Raghib has stated that Ya’juj and Ma’ju have been compared to the flaming fire and surging water because of their intense agitation.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas states:

“Yajuj [Gog] and Majuj [Magog] are two peoples who have been mentioned in earlier scriptures. The reason why they are so called is that they make extensive use of Ajij [fire], and would reign supreme on earth and dominate every height. At the same time, a great change will be ordained from heaven and will usher in days of peace and amity” (Lecure Sialkot, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 20, Page 211)

And:

“I have also proved that it is essential for the Promised Messiah to appear at the time of Gog and Magog. Since Ajij, from which the words Gog and Magog are derived, means ‘fire’, God Almighty has disclosed to me that Gog and Magog are a people who are greater experts in the use of fire than any other people. Their very names indicate that their ships, trains and machines will be run by fire. They will fight their battles with fire. They will excel all other people in harnessing fire to their service. This is why they will be called Gog and Magog. These are the people of the West, as they are unique in their expertise in the use of fire. In Jewish scriptures too it was the people of Europe who were described as Gog and Magog. Even the name of Moscow, which is the ancient capital of Russia, is mentioned. Thus it was preordained that the Promised Messiah would appear in the time of Gog and Magog.”(Ayyam-us-Sulh, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 14, Pages 424-425)

Signs in the Qur’an

Now as mentioned earlier, the word Dajjal does not appear in the Qur’an, but is mentioned in countless of Ahadith which tell us where to go in the Qur”an to understand the reality of Dajjal. The Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw stated:

Abu Darda’ reported Allah’s Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone learns by heart the first ten verses of the Surah al-Kahf, he will be protected from the Dajjal.(Sahih Muslim 809a)

Another hadith tells us:

Abu al-Darda’ reported the prophet (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone memorizes ten verses from the beginning of surat al-Kahf, he will be protected from the trial of Dajjal (Antichrist). Abu Dawud said: In this way Hashim al-dastawa’I transmitted it from Qatadah, but he said : “If anyone memorizes the closing verses of surat al-Kahf.” Shu’bah narrated from Qatadah the words “from the end of al-Kahf. (Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith #4323)

One hadith tells us to recite the first ten verses, and the second hadith tells us to read the last closing ayahs. Both ahadith are reliable and show us that one should read both the first ten ayahs and the last ten ayahs f Surah al Kahf. Now when we read the first and last ten ayahs, it becomes clear that these verses describe the greatest fitnah, which is the belief of stating that Allah has God forbid, taken a son. Let us analyze why the Prophet Muhammadsaw has referred to Surah al Kahf in regards to Dajjal and why these specific verses. First let us analyze the first ten. Allah States:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِ الْكِتَابَ وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ عِوَجًا ۜ {2}

All praise belongs to Allah Who has sent down the Book to His servant and has not put therein any crookedness. (Chapter 18 verse 2)

Allah has Clearly from the beginning of the verse mentioned that to HIm belong All Praise alone, already destroying the concept of the trinity. He further States:

قَيِّمًا لِيُنْذِرَ بَأْسًا شَدِيدًا مِنْ لَدُنْهُ وَيُبَشِّرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ الَّذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ أَجْرًا حَسَنًا {3} مَاكِثِينَ فِيهِ أَبَدًا {4}

He has made it a guardian, that it may give warning of a grievous chastisement from Him, and that it may give the believers who do good deeds the glad tidings that they shall have a good reward, Wherein they shall abide for ever; (Chapter 18 Verse 3-4)

These verses aso show that Islam is the dominant religion and the believers will have their reward of heaven while the Qur”an has given a clear warning to the disbelievers. Allah then States:

وَيُنْذِرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا اتَّخَذَ اللَّهُ وَلَدًا {4}

And that it may warn those who say, ‘ Allah has taken unto Himself a son. (Chapter 18 Verse 5)

This verse is extremely important as it clearly warns us about the dangers of Christianity and has clearly referred to the Christian clergy which spread their main message of Allah taking a son, God forbid. Now when we turn to the last ten verses, it’s important to notce that Allah has also Referred us to the dangers of the Christian faith and what they preach in comparison to what Isaas taught. Allah States :

الَّذِينَ كَانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ فِي غِطَاءٍ عَنْ ذِكْرِي وَكَانُوا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَمْعًا {102} أَفَحَسِبَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَنْ يَتَّخِذُوا عِبَادِي مِنْ دُونِي أَوْلِيَاءَ ۚ إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكَافِرِينَ نُزُلًا {103} قُلْ هَلْ نُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِالْأَخْسَرِينَ أَعْمَالًا {104} الَّذِينَ ضَلَّ سَعْيُهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهُمْ يُحْسِنُونَ صُنْعًا {105}

أُولَٰئِكَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا بِآيَاتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَلِقَائِهِ فَحَبِطَتْ أَعْمَالُهُمْ فَلَا نُقِيمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَزْنًا {106} ذَٰلِكَ جَزَاؤُهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ بِمَا كَفَرُوا وَاتَّخَذُوا آيَاتِي وَرُسُلِي هُزُوًا {107} إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ كَانَتْ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ الْفِرْدَوْسِ نُزُلًا {108} خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا لَا يَبْغُونَ عَنْهَا حِوَلًا {109} قُلْ لَوْ كَانَ الْبَحْرُ مِدَادًا لِكَلِمَاتِ رَبِّي لَنَفِدَ الْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْفَدَ كَلِمَاتُ رَبِّي وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِ مَدَدًا {110} قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِثْلُكُمْ يُوحَىٰ إِلَيَّ أَنَّمَا إِلَٰهُكُمْ إِلَٰهٌ وَاحِدٌ ۖ فَمَنْ كَانَ يَرْجُو لِقَاءَ رَبِّهِ فَلْيَعْمَلْ عَمَلًا صَالِحًا وَلَا يُشْرِكْ بِعِبَادَةِ رَبِّهِ أَحَدًا{111}

Whose eyes were under a veil so as not to heed My warning, and they could not even hear.  Do the disbelievers think that they can take My servants as protectors instead of Me? Surely, We have prepared Hell as an entertainment for the disbelievers. Say, ‘Shall We tell you of those who are the greatest losers in respect of their works? —‘Those whose labour is all lost in search after things pertaining to the life of this world, and they think that they are doing good works.’  Those are they who disbelieve in the Signs of their Lord and in the meeting with Him. So their works are vain, and on the Day of Resurrection We shall give them no weight. Say, ‘If the ocean became ink for the words of my Lord, surely, the ocean would be exhausted before the words of my Lord came to an end, even though We brought the like thereof as further help.’ Say, ‘I am only a man like yourselves; but I have received the revelation that your God is only One God. So let him who hopes to meet his Lord do good deeds, and let him join no one in the worship of his Lord.’ (Chapter 18 Verses 102-111)

In these verses the concept of Christianity is also mentioned, along with the Western nations. The Christian nations are clearly after the wordly matters rather than the hereafter. They focus on wealth alone and have forgotten about the true words of Isaas and his teachings. Both the first ten and the last ten ayahs have clearly spoke about the fitnah of the Christian doctrine, mainly revolvng around the concept of Allah having a son, and worrying about wealth in this world alone.

Gog and Magog are mentioned three times in the Holy Qur’an. Firstly Allah States:

قَالُوا يَا ذَا الْقَرْنَيْنِ إِنَّ يَأْجُوجَ وَمَأْجُوجَ مُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَهَلْ نَجْعَلُ لَكَ خَرْجًا عَلَىٰ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَهُمْ سَدًّا {95}

They said, ‘O Dhu’l Qarnain, verily, Gog and Magog are creating disorder in the earth; shall we then pay thee tribute on condition that thou set up a barrier between us and them? (Chapter 18 Verse 95)

The second Khalifa of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmadra stated in his tafseer, in regards to this ayah : “The people who lived on the route of the depredatry incursions of Gog and Magog into Persia asked Cyrus to build a wall accross the pass through which they made their raids” (Five Volume Commentary o The Holy Qur’an Page 1539)

The next verse referring to Gog and Magog States:

فَمَا اسْطَاعُوا أَنْ يَظْهَرُوهُ وَمَا اسْتَطَاعُوا لَهُ نَقْبًا {98}

So they (Gog and Magog) were not able to scale it, nor were they able to dig through it (Chapter 18 Verse 98)

This statement was said by Dhul Qurnanin who was a king. This shows the beauty of the Qur’an and shows the existence of God as well. There is a famous wall called the Derbent wall and it relates to Gog and Magog. There was a place called Derbent under Russia and there was a wall here as well which this sign is referring to. The King decided to build a wall to safeguard the people from attacks and the wall is calleld the Derbent wall. This was created by the same king, Dhul Qurnain. This was a huge wall and the Qur’an is stating that when the Promise of the Lord would come, Allah would break it into pieces. The Promise of Allah here can also refer to the Promised Messiahas of the end times, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas. This was would therefore, break down during the time of the Messiah and this wall started breaking in 1824, and in 1844 the wall was demolished. From 1824-1844, there is a gap of twenty years, which makes the average to be ten years. When we add ten years to 1824, we get 1834 which is a year right before the Promised Messiahas was born.

The last ayah in regards to Gog and Magog which is mentioned in the Qur’an is:

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا فُتِحَتْ يَأْجُوجُ وَمَأْجُوجُ وَهُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنْسِلُونَ {97}

It shall be so even when Gog and Magog are let loose and they shall hasten forth from every height.(Chapter 21 Verse 97)

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas beautifully explains this. He states:

” The Holy Qur’an then specifies that in the latter days the Christians will dominate the earth, and they shall be the cause of all kinds of mischief running rampant. Waves of calamities will rise on all sides and will race down from every height….They will possess great material strength and dominion, against which all other powers and states will seem powerless. They will also enjoy supremacy in all kinds of knowledge and sciences and establish new and wonderful industries. They will also be dominant in their policies, projects, and good administration, and will show great resolve in their worldly enterprises and will also excel in their endeavour to spread their faith. They will leave behind all other nations in their social, agricultural and commercial policies, as indeed in everything else. This is the meaning of:

مِنْ كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنْسِلُونَ {21:97}

Hadab means high ground and Nasal means to run ahead and to excel. In other words, they will leave behind every other nation in whatever is great and prestigious. This is the major sign of the people of the latter days who were designated as Gog and Magog and this is also the sign of the mischievous group of Christian clerics who are called the Promised Dajjal. Since Hadab means an elevated part of the earth, this indicates that they will achieve all earthly heights but will be deprived of the spiritual heights. This proves that these people are called Gog and Magog in view of their national dominance. Among them are the people who have left no stone unturned in spreading misguidance and consequently came to be known as the Great Dajjal. And God Almighty has said that at the height of misguidance, the trumpet will be blown and people of all faiths will be assembled at one place.” (Shahadat-ul-Qur’an, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 6, Pages 361-362)

Why Does the Qur’an not Mention Dajjal?

Many ask why the Qur’an mentions Gog and Magog but not the Dajjal by its name. The word dajjal mans the anti Christ, or the great liar, fraud and disbeliever, while Gog and Magog are the names of two nations. The books of Ahadith use the word Dajjal as this word relates to the propheces of the latter day Messiah and the word shows us that it refers to the peope who lie and deceive and do such in both religious and wordly matters. This is what the ahadith which refer to Dajjal having one blind eye refer to. It shows that the dajjal would have a strong eye in regards to its materialistic matters, but its right eye of faith would be completely blind. Despite the Dajjal not being mentioned by its name, the signs are mentioned in the Qur’an as we have shown from Surah al Kahf.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas further states:

” The word Dajjal has two connotations: First, it signifies a group which supports falsehood and works with cunning and deceit. Secondly, it is the name of the Satan who is the father of all falsehood and corruption.” (Haqiqat-ul-Wahi, Ruhani Khazain Volume 22, Pae 326)

And:

” The Dajjal mentioned in the Ahadith is described by the Holy Qur’an as the Satan, whom it quotes as saying:

قَالَ أَنْظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {7:15} قَالَ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرِينَ {7:16}

‘He (Satan) pleaded in the presence of God to be granted respite until those who are dead of heart are revived. God said: You are given respite till that time.’ Thus the Dajjal who is mentioned in the Ahadith is none other than the Satan who will be slain in the latter days. This is recorded in the book of Daniel as well as in some Ahadith. As Christianity is the perfect manifestation of Satan, Surah Al-Fatihah makes no mention of Dajjal, but prescribes supplication for refuge against the evil of the Christians. If the Dajjal had been some other mischiefmaker, the Holy Qur’an would not have enjoined us to seek refuge against the mischief of Dallin [those who have gone astray] but for security against the Dajjal.

The verse إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَmentioned above does not mean the day of resurrection, because Satan will remain alive only so long as men are alive. Satan does not operate on his own, but through his agents, who are the people who deify a human being. Being a group of people, they are called Dajjal as in Arabic Dajjal also connotes a group. If Dajjal is taken to mean someone other than the misguided preachers of Christianity, this would entail a contradiction, because the very Ahadith which indicate that the Dajjal will prevail over the earth in the latter days, also indicate that in those days the power of the church will overwhelm all religions. This contradiction can only be solved by affirming that the two are one and the same.”(Haqiqat-ul-Wahi, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 22, Page 41)

The commentators also prove and so do the great scholars of ahadith. For example Ibn Hajr al-Asqalani (rh) in his commentary of 40:58 explains that al-nas refers to al-Dajjal:

The Dajjal in the Books of Ahadith

It is extremely important to mention that the ahadith in regards to the Dajjal are visions. The ahadith clearly use the words dream or vision when describing the appearance of Dajjal in many narrations. The Holy Prophetsaw stated:

Narrated `Abdullah:The Prophet (ﷺ) mentioned the Masih Ad-Dajjal in front of the people saying, Allah is not one-eyed while Masih Ad-Dajjal is blind in the right eye and his eye looks like a bulging out grape. While sleeping near the Ka`ba last night, I saw in my dream a man of brown color the best one can see amongst brown color and his hair was long that it fell between his shoulders. His hair was lank and water was dribbling from his head and he was placing his hands on the shoulders of two men while circumambulating the Ka`ba. I asked, ‘Who is this?’ They replied, ‘This is Jesus, son of Mary.’ Behind him I saw a man who had very curly hair and was blind in the right eye, resembling Ibn Qatan (i.e. an infidel) in appearance. He was placing his hands on the shoulders of a person while performing Tawaf around the Ka`ba. I asked, ‘Who is this? ‘They replied, ‘The Masih, Ad-Dajjal.’ “(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith #3439)

It is also interesting that the Holy Prophetsaw made it clear that the latter day messiah would be someone completely different. Hesaw states in regards to the description of the messiahas sent to Bani Israel:

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “I saw Moses, Jesus and Abraham (on the night of my Ascension to the heavens). Jesus was of red complexion, curly hair and a broad chest. Moses was of brown complexion, straight hair and tall stature as if he was from the people of Az-Zutt.” (Bukhari Volume 5, book 55, Hadith 648)

The main point being addressed by the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw in this hadith is that it was a dream. All Muslims should be aware that visions are not to be taken literally. Here are som clear examples from the Qur’an, Ahadith and great scholars of Islam.It is Stated in the Qur’an:

إِذْ قَالَ يُوسُفُ لِأَبِيهِ يَا أَبَتِ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَحَدَ عَشَرَ كَوْكَبًا وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ رَأَيْتُهُمْ لِي سَاجِدِينَ {5} قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ لَا تَقْصُصْ رُؤْيَاكَ عَلَىٰ إِخْوَتِكَ فَيَكِيدُوا لَكَ كَيْدًا ۖ إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لِلْإِنْسَانِ عَدُوٌّ مُبِينٌ {6} وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَجْتَبِيكَ رَبُّكَ وَيُعَلِّمُكَ مِنْ تَأْوِيلِ الْأَحَادِيثِ وَيُتِمُّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ يَعْقُوبَ كَمَا أَتَمَّهَا عَلَىٰ أَبَوَيْكَ مِنْ قَبْلُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ ۚ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌ {7}

Remember the time when Joseph said to his father, ‘O my father, I saw in a dream eleven stars and the sun and the moon, I saw them making obeisance to me.’ He said, ‘O my darling son, relate not thy dream to thy brothers, lest they contrive a plot against thee; for Satan is to man an open enemy. (Chapter 12 verse 5-7)

Now according to this vision, Josephas told his father about a dream of eleven stars and the sun and the moon obeisance to him. Allah Himself States in the Qur’an:

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَسْجُدُ لَهُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَالشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ وَالنُّجُومُ وَالْجِبَالُ وَالشَّجَرُ وَالدَّوَابُّ وَكَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِ الْعَذَابُ ۗ وَمَنْ يُهِنِ اللَّهُ فَمَا لَهُ مِنْ مُكْرِمٍ ۚ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَاءُ ۩ {19}

Hast thou not seen that to Allah submits whosoever is in the heavens and whosoever is in the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and the beasts, and many of mankind? But there are many who become deserving of punishment. And whomsoever Allah disgraces, none can raise him to honour. Verily, Allah does what He pleases. (Chapter 22 Verse 19)

Now I ask the non Ahmadi Muslims whether they would take the vision of Yusufas literally? He narrated this dream to his father and his father had no objection to this vision. In the same Surah, Allah States:

وَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ السِّجْنَ فَتَيَانِ ۖ قَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا إِنِّي أَرَانِي أَعْصِرُ خَمْرًا ۖ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ إِنِّي أَرَانِي أَحْمِلُ فَوْقَ رَأْسِي خُبْزًا تَأْكُلُ الطَّيْرُ مِنْهُ ۖ نَبِّئْنَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِ ۖ إِنَّا نَرَاكَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ {37}

And with him there entered the prison two young men. One of them said, ‘I saw myself in a dream pressing wine.’ And the other said, ‘I saw myself in a dream carrying upon my head bread of which the birds are eating. Inform us of the interpretation thereof; for we see thee to be of the righteous.’(Chapter 12 verse 37)

These two people ask for the interpretation of he dream rather than taking it literally in the Qur’an. They were in jail so how can their dreams be taken literally? Yusufas did not reply by saying “no you are lying, where is the bread or wine” rather he interpreted the dreams by saying you will be saved and the bird would be hanged. Allah explains this interpretation in the Qur’an and shows us that dreams aren’t to be taken literally.

Allah further states in the same Surah:

وَقَالَ الْمَلِكُ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ سَبْعَ بَقَرَاتٍ سِمَانٍ يَأْكُلُهُنَّ سَبْعٌ عِجَافٌ وَسَبْعَ سُنْبُلَاتٍ خُضْرٍ وَأُخَرَ يَابِسَاتٍ ۖ يَا أَيُّهَا الْمَلَأُ أَفْتُونِي فِي رُؤْيَايَ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لِلرُّؤْيَا تَعْبُرُونَ {44} قَالُوا أَضْغَاثُ أَحْلَامٍ ۖ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَأْوِيلِ الْأَحْلَامِ بِعَالِمِينَ {45}

And the King said, ‘I see in a dream seven fat kine which seven lean ones eat up, and seven green ears of corn and seven others withered. O ye chiefs, explain to me the meaning of my dream if you can interpret a dream.’ They replied, ‘They are confused dreams, and we do not know the interpretation of such confused dreams.’ (Chapter 12 Verses 44-45)

The king also saw a vision where seven fat cows were being eaten by seven lean and seven green spies of grain. Cows are not eaten by plants rather eat plants. Now will the non Ahmadi Muslims say the King lied ? Yusufas heard this dream and did not say “you lied” rather explained the dream.

Allah also Showed a vision to the Holy Prophetsaw in regards to Badr. Allah States:

إِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اللَّهُ فِي مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلًا ۖ وَلَوْ أَرَاكَهُمْ كَثِيرًا لَفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَازَعْتُمْ فِي الْأَمْرِ وَلَٰكِنَّ اللَّهَ سَلَّمَ ۗ إِنَّهُ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ {44}

When Allah showed them to thee in thy dream as few; and if He had shown them to thee as many, you would have surely faltered and would have disagreed with one another about the matter; but Allah saved you. Surely, He has full knowledge of what is in your breasts.(Chapter 8 Verse 44)

Allah showed the greatest Prophet that the people were fewer in number than they actually were. In a hadith of Bukhari it is stated:

Narrated Ibn Abbas: Musailama-al-Kadhdhab (i.e. the liar) came in the life-time of Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) with many of his people (to Medina) and said, “If Muhammad makes me his successor, I will follow him.” Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went up to him with Thabit bin Qais bin Shams; and Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) was carrying a piece of a datepalm leaf in his hand. He stood before Musailama (and his companions) and said, “If you asked me even this piece (of a leaf), I would not give it to you. You cannot avoid the fate you are destined to, by Allah. If you reject Islam, Allah will destroy you. I think that you are most probably the same person whom I have seen in the dream.” Abu Huraira told me that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ); said, “While I was sleeping, I saw (in a dream) two gold bracelets round my arm, and that worried me too much. Then I was instructed divinely in my dream, to blow them off and so I blew them off, and they flew away. I interpreted the two bracelets as symbols of two liars who would appear after me. And so one of them was Al-Ansi and the other was Musailama Al-Kadhdhab from Al-Yamama.”(Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 56, Hadith #817)

No companion accused the Prophetsaw of wearing gold as visions are not to be taken literally, rather they awaited his interpretation. They did not start to accuse the Prophetsaw of wearing gold which is haram in Islam either. It is a basic concept in Islam that dreams are interpreted, yet the non Ahmadi Muslims sadly take everything to be literal.

A dream of Hazrat Imam Abu Hanifa is as follows:

Shu‘ayb ibn Ayyub al-Sarifini said, Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, ‘I heard Abu Hanifah say, “I saw a dream that scared me. I saw I was digging up the grave of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). I came to Basrah and ordered a man to ask Muhammad ibn Sirin and he asked him. He said, ‘This man shall uncover the hadiths of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).’ (رقم الحديث)

Imam Bukhari also saw a similar dream where he was removing flies from the body of the Holy Prophetsaw. The interpretation of the dream was that the flies represented fabricated ahadith and that he would remove such ahadith and distinguish them from authentic ahadith.

We do not take the dreams of Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Bukhari to God forbid be literal, rather they bot had a beautiful interpretation. The prophecies in regards to the latter day Messiah and Dajjal were also visions and therefore need to be interpreted. This tells us that the prophecies in regards to the Dajjal are full of metaphorical speech and should not be taken completely literally. Authentic ahadith tell us that by reciting the first and last ten verses of Surah al Kahf, we would be given protection from the Dajjal and we have already outlined how these verses refer to the Christian clergy and the false doctrines they spread. The first and last ten verses both clearly warn us about the Christian nations which further prove that according to the Qur’an the greatest Dajjal is the Christian clergies. Another important statement to keep in mind is that according to the Ahadith, the greatest fitnah or tribulation is the Dajjal. The Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw states:

“‏ما بين خلق آدم إلى قيام الساعة أمر أكبر من الدجال‏”‏‏

‘Imran bin Hussain (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, “Between time of the creation of Adam and the Resurrection Day, there is nothing greater than the mischief of Dajjal (the Antichrist).” [Muslim]. (Riyad as Salihin Book 19, Hadith #7)

Now when we look at the Words of Allah, we are told about three great fitnahs. Firstly in Surah Fatihah we pray :

صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ

The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, those who have not incurred Thy displeasure, and those who have not gone astray. (Chapter 1 Verse 7)

These verses include the horrible of the Jews and also the Christians and we pray to Allah to keep us safeguarded from such falsehood. Now the greatest fitnah according to the Qur’an is clear stated to be the action of claiming Allah has a son, God forbid. Allah States:

وَقَالُوا اتَّخَذَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَدًا {89} لَقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَيْئًا إِدًّا {90} تَكَادُ السَّمَاوَاتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنْشَقُّ الْأَرْضُ وَتَخِرُّ الْجِبَالُ هَدًّا {91} أَ نْ دَعَوْا لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَدًا {92}

And they say, ‘The Gracious God has taken unto Himself a son.’ Assuredly, you have done a most monstrous thing! The heavens might well-nigh burst thereat, and the earth cleave asunder, and the mountains fall down in pieces,  Because they ascribe a son to the Gracious God. (Chapter 19 Verses 89-92)

Allah has made it clear in the Holy Qur’an that never did Isaas claim to be God or tell the people to worship him. In fact this is proven by the bible itself as well. Such statements and beliefs of Isaas God Forbid making a claimant of God can only be atributed to the Anti Christ rather than Isaas himself. The Qur’an does not mention the name of the Dajjal or Anti-Christ, however clearly shows us the true meaning of Dajjal and the greatest Dajjal of the Christian Clergies. Another clear proof which shows us that the greatest Dajjal is indeed the Christian clergies, are all of the ahadith which state that the Messiah would break the cross. It is rare where the Holy Prophetsaw mentions the killing of the dajjal in comparison to the breaking of the cross. Whenever the advent of the Messiah is mentioned with his tasks, his main task is to break the cross. The ahadith say that Dajjal would be the greatest fitnah and be the strongest on earth, but many ahadith also show us that the Cross will be dominating the world during the time of the Messiah, which is why the ahadith state:

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (Sahih Bukhari Hadith #2476)

Only one power can be dominant over the world at one time and it is not possible that the Holy Prophetsaw contradicted himself in all of these authentic ahadith. The reality of him showing us that the Cross and Dajjal would be dominant over the world simply shows that they are similar and have the same meaning behind them.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas states:

“Dajjal in fact is none other than the people known as Christian missionaries and European philosophers. They act like the two jaws of the Promised Dajjal with which he devours people’s faith like a python. First it is the common and ignorant people who get caught in the wiles of the missionaries; and then, those who happen to escape their clutches being disgusted with the disgraceful and false beliefs, are caught in the net of the European philosophers. I see that the common people are more vulnerable to the lies of the clergy, whereas the intellectual ones are more susceptible to the falsehood spread by the philosophers.”(Kitab-ul-Bariyyah, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 13, Pages 252-253, footnote)

And:

“There have been many Dajjals and there may be more to come. But the greatest Dajjal, whose deceit is so vile in God’s estimation that heaven might well be rent asunder by it, is the group which deifies a mere human being. God Almighty has set forth in the Holy Qur’an various kinds of deceit practised by the Jews, the Polytheists and others, but does not single out any which might cause heaven to be rent asunder. Therefore, we should not designate any group as the greatest Dajjal but the one so designated by God in His Holy Word. It would be most unfair and cruel to try to find someone else as the greatest Dajjal. On no account can we justify the existence of a greater Dajjal than the present day Christian clergy. Whereas God has designated them in His Holy Word as the greatest Dajjal, it would be the height of faithlessness to consider anyone else to be the greatest Dajjal in contrast to the Word of God. Had there been any possibility at any other time of the existence of such a Dajjal, God Almighty, Whose knowledge transcends the past, the present and the future, would have designated him and not these people as the great Dajjal. The sign of the great Dajjal, which we can clearly deduce from the Hadith of Bukhariيَكْسِرَ الصَّلِيبَ is that the great Dajjal would deify Jesus and would attribute salvation to the cross. It is a matter of great delight for the knowledgeable that on this point the definitive verses of the Holy Qur’an and authentic Ahadith are both in agreement. Thus, the truth about this controversial issue has come to the open. The Holy Qur’an unambiguously designates the Christian clergy as the greatest Dajjal and terms their lies to be so great as could destroy heaven and earth. And the Hadith also specifies that the true sign of the Promised Messiah would be that he would break the cross and slay the great Dajjal. Our stupid Maulavis do not seem to reflect that the main objective of the Promised Messiah is the breaking of the cross and slaying of the great Dajjal. The Holy Qur’an has foretold that the great deception and mischief whereby the order of the entire universe might be upset and the world brought to an end is the mischief of the Christian missionaries. From this it clearly follows that there is no greater Dajjal than the clergy and that he who, having witnessed the revelation of this great mischief, waits for some other, denies the truthfulness of the Holy Qur’an. Moreover, as the literal meaning of the word Dajjal is a group that pollutes the earth with its deceit, and, according to the Ahadith, the singular sign of the great Dajjal would be his advocacy of the cross, if someone still fails to consider the Christian clergy as the great Dajjal, he is indeed spiritually blind.”(Anjam-e-Atham, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 11, Pages 46-48)

Dajjal, A Single Person or a Nation?

Firstly, one has to remember that visions cannot be taken literally. They are full of deeper meanings and the same occurs when we come to the ahadith about the Dajjal. It is true that in many ahadith Dajjal is described as one man, but when we focus on the characteristics of this man, it further proves that this was shown to explain how the people of this nation would be. A nation could be represented in a vision only as a single person. The Qur’anic ayahs of Surah al Kahf further prove Dajjal to be a nation and we should interpret the ahadith according to the Qur’an rather than misinterpret the Qur’an over some ahadith which at first we cannot understand completely. The Qur’an puts Dajjal in the category of the Christian nations and shows us that there is no difference between them, and Gog and magog. Furthermore according to the Qur’an, Abrahamas himself is called a nation although we know he was a single person. Allah States:

إِنَّ إِبْرَاهِيمَ كَانَ أُمَّةً قَانِتًا لِلَّهِ حَنِيفًا وَلَمْ يَكُ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ {121}

Abraham was indeed a paragon of virtue, obedient to Allah, ever inclined to Him, and he was not of those who set up equals to God;(Chapter 16 Verse 121)

If Abrahamas, who was one person can be called a nation in the Qur’an, why can’t dajjal be described as one person in a vision of the Prophet Muhammadsaw but refer to a nation? Furthermore, many ahadith show us that Dajjal is indeed a nation.

The Holy Prophetsaw stated:

” You will fight with them (the Arabs) and Allah will give you victory over them; then you will fight with Persia and Allah will give you victory over them;  then you will fight with the Dajjal and Allah will give you victory over them” (Mishkat, Chapter Al Malahim)

The Holy Prophetsaw has clarly mentioned the war with Dajjal in the manner of the other wars with Arabs, Persians and Romans who are all nations. This shows that the Dajjal is also a nation.

The Qur’an also states:

يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اذْكُرُوا نِعْمَتِيَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَأَنِّي فَضَّلْتُكُمْ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ {48}

O children of Israel! remember My favour which I bestowed upon you and that I exalted you above the peoples.(Chapter 2 Verse 48)

The Qur’an States in regards to the Children of Israel as if Allah was Addressing a single person. Furthermore, the Holy Prophetsaw told us to recite the first ten and last ten verses of Surah al Kahf, to be safeguarded from Dajjal, and both refer to nations. Why would the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw make us memorize verses to be safeguarded from Dajjal if these verses had nothing to do with Dajjal? It is clear that these verses outline Dajjal in the best manner and have clearly outlined them as nations. The Ahmadiyya interpretation of Dajjal is the only interpretation which is in line with the Qur’an and the Ahadith.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas States:

” Dajjal is not the name of one man. According to the Arabic lexicon, Dajjal signifies a group of people who present themselves as trustworthy and pious, but are neither trustworthy nor pious. Rather, everything they say is full of dishonesty and deceit. This characteristic is to be found in the class of Christians known as the clergy. Another group is that of the philosophers and thinkers who are busy trying to assume control of machines, industries and the Divine scheme of things. They are the Dajjal because they deceive God’s creatures by their actions and tall claims as if they are partners in God’s dominion. The clergy are arrogating to themselves the status of Prophethood because they ignore the true heavenly Gospel and spread a perverted and corrupted version as the supposed translation of the Gospel.” (Kitab-ul-Bariyyah, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 13, Pages 243-244, Footnote)

Meaning of the Ahadith Describing Dajjal

One of the hadith which is most often quoted in regards to Dajjal is:

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar:Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said. “While I was sleeping, I saw myself (in a dream) performing Tawaf around the Ka`ba. Behold, I saw a brown man with lank hair, and water was dropping from his head. I asked, “Who is this?’ They replied, ‘The son of Mary.’ Then I turned my face to see another man with a huge body, red complexion and curly hair and blind in one eye. His eye looked like a protruding out grape. They said (to me), He is Ad-Dajjal.” The Prophet (ﷺ) added, “The man he resembled most is Ibn Qatan, a man from the tribe of Khuza`a. “(Sahih al Bukhari, Hadith #7128)

We firstly learn that Dajjal would be strongly built and he would be of whitish reddish compexion and his hair would be short and curly. This is in reality the general appearance of the European nations today. The people are strongly built and ther hair is short and curly to the point where today even their women have such hair.

Furthermore, another hadith describing Dajjal states:

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said:Dajjal is blind of one eye and there is written between his eyes the word” Kafir”. He then spelled the word as k. f. r., which every Muslim would be able to read.(Sahih Muslim Hadith #2933 c)

Another characteristic which we learn about Dajjal from the ahadith is that he would have Ka Fa Ra written between his eyes and that every believer would be able to read this. This is of course a metaphorical trait of Dajjal. Firstly, how can one who is illiterate read these words on the forehead of Dajjal? The Prophetsw saying they would be able to read it itself shows that this is nt literal. The meaning of this is that the Christians and the other nations of Dajjal would be doing such horrible actions in contradiction to Islam, that anyone would be able to recognize their falsehood as if it was written on their forehead.

The Holy Prophetsaw told us that the Dajjal would be blind in the right eye which shows that its left eye would be its stronger eye. This refers to the state of the Western nations who are devoid of spirituality and are only after the materialistic aspects of this world. The left eye of the Dajjal describes the success the Dajjal will have in regards to wealth and other technology and materialistic movements. They have advanced in such a way which was not expected by anyone. For example, the scientists have come up with technologies whcih help them find the treasures of the world and have weapons which can destroy the entire world. They have started altering the creation of Allah with things like genetic engineering and other forms of surgery. All of this falls under the left eye of the Dajjal which is extremely sharp but does not help the person in any way.

Imam Raghib has stated:

” And it has been reported that the right eye of the Dajjal will be devoid of sight and this means that the dajjal will be bereft of praiseworthy moral qualities, such as knowledge, intelligence and humility”. The Ahmadiyya interpretation of Dajjal is the only interpretation which makes sense and is in line with the Qur’an and Ahadith.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas States:

“The word one eyed is not to be taken literally. Allah says in the Holy Qur’an “Whoever is blind in this world will be blind in the hereafter” (Chapter 17 verse 73) Blindness here evidently means spiritual blindness. Thus the word under discussion will mean that Dajjal will have no spiritual sight, although his worldly sight will be very sharp; and along with it, he will discover such subtle methods resulting in such wonderful performances, that he will almost appear as one claiming Divinity. But he will have no spiritual vision whatsoever, as in the case with the people of America and Europe today who have carried the physical side of life to perfection” (Izala Auham, Page 401)

He also states:

“The existence of Dajjaliyyat, as opposed to ‘Iswiyyat, is imperative, because opposites can only be recognized by contrast. These opposites have existed since the time of our Holy Prophetsaw. He called Ibni Sayyad Dajjal and said to Hadrat ‘Ali ra: ‘You bear a resemblance to ‘Isaas‘. This was when the seed of ‘Isa as and Dajjal was sown. With the passage of time, as the darkness of Dajjal grew, so did people with the true spirit of ‘Isaas continue to appear to oppose it. This went on until the perfect Dajjaliyyat emerged in the last days, because of the vice, sin, disbelief, and transgression that prevailed all over the world like it had never done before. The Holy Prophetsaw had prophesised that such conditions would prevail in the latter days. Hence it was necessary that there should also be a full manifestation of ‘Iswiyyat to counter it. It must be remembered that ‘Dajjaliyyat’ is a term that signifies all those evils the prevalence of which in the latter days was foretold by the Holy Prophetsa Hadrat Muhammadsaw has mentioned several hundred of its ramifications or branches. The Maulawis, who prefer to follow the convention in total disregard of the Holy Qur’an, are also branches of the tree of Dajjaliyyat. They recite the Holy Qur’an but do not understand it. In short, today Dajjaliyyat is spreading its numerous tentacles in all directions like a spider. The disbeliever with his disbelief, the hypocrite with his hypocrisy, the drunkard with his drunkenness, and the clerics with their habit of preaching without practising and their malice, are all spinning the net of Dajjaliyyat. This net can only be demolished with a heavenly weapon and that weapon can be effectively used only by the ‘Isa as who is to descend from the same heaven.”(The Heavenly Sign, Page 20-21)

The Prophetsaw originally believed Ibn Sayyad was Dajjal, despite him not having Kafir physically written on his forehead, nor him having a blind eye. This further shows that these prophecies are metaphorical. It is clear that the Prophetsaw was slowly taught more about Dajjal by Allah until it was made clear that the greatest Dajjal is nothing more than the Christian clergies .

Rain of the Dajjal

Another characteristic of Dajjal is that he wold say to the heavens to send down rain and instruct the earth to give life to the dead. There are all metaphorical sgns and cannot be taken literally. We see the fulfillment of these prophecies in the technological aspect within the Christian nations of the West. They have advanced to such an extent where it makes people lose the belief of the existence of God since they have tried to take every role of Allah. Another way this is fulfilled is through cloud seeding. According to the Qur’an these attributes cannot be physically given to the Dajjal because Allah Has made it clear that these are only His attributes. Allah States:

الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ فِرَاشًا وَالسَّمَاءَ بِنَاءً وَأَنْزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَأَخْرَجَ بِهِ مِنَ الثَّمَرَاتِ رِزْقًا لَكُمْ ۖ فَلَا تَجْعَلُوا لِلَّهِ أَنْدَادًا وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ {23}

Who made the earth a bed for you, and the heaven a roof, and caused water to come down from the clouds and therewith brought forth fruits for your sustenance. Set not up, therefore, equals to Allah, while you know.(Chapter 2 verse 23)

Paradise and Hell of Dajjal

Another attribute which is given to the Dajjal is that he would bring heaven and hell, and what seems to be heaven would be hell, while what seems to be hell would in reality be heaven. This prophecy in regards to the Dajjal is describing the preaching of the Dajjal which makes its religion like Christianity and its policies seem to be the absolute truth and makes one seem as if they would achieve heaven by attributing a son to Allah, but in reality would be leading themselves to hell. The people who reject this are made to seem as if they are going to be the people of hell, but in reality will be lead to the heavens if they follow Islam properly. The Jannah in these ahadith refer to a life of comfort and luxury and the hellfire refers to not having these materialistic benefits. It shows us that one who follows Dajjal can easily live a luxurious life but one who rejects the Dajjal will live a simple life of a Muslim and not have the benefit of the materialistic aspects to the extent of what Dajjal would have. It compares the Muslim nations to the Christian nations as well. Dajjal has no spiritual benefits but convinces the people that what they possess, will lead to paradise, but in reality leads to the complete opposite.

Mountains of Bread and a Stream of Water

The ahadith state that the Dajjal would carry mountains of bread with a stream of water. This simply refers to the nations of the West who control the food supply of the entire world. It is not distributed throughout the world in any fair manner as we see poverty in many countries. The west has much more food then the rest of the world which laves many countries with little to no food, causing deaths on a daily basis. The Dajjal only gives majority of these supplies to the west and ignores the other countries.

The Donkey of the Dajjal

A hadith of Sahih Muslim states in regards to the transportation of the Dajjal:

We said: Allah’s Messenger, how quickly would he walk upon the earth? Thereupon he (ﷺ) said: Like cloud driven by the wind.(Sahih Muslim 2937 a)

Now what can be something which has such a quick speed? In reality the Holy Prophetsaw was making clear prophecies about modern day transportation which includes the train and the airplane. The Holy Prophetsaw also stated “The earth will be rolled for him”, which means that the movement of the transportation of Dajjal would be so fast that the world would seem to have shrunken, because of how quick one can travel from one place of the world to the other. It is also stated that “He will hold the cloud in his right hand” (Kanzul Ummal, Volume 7, Hadith #2998). This refers to his fast moving above the clouds and the Holy Prophetsaw also saw a vision where he saw Dajjal jumping between the heavens and the earth which further proves his fat movement with the use of modern day technology. The hadith further states “He will overreach the sun in its setting place”. In todays day and age it is possible to move faster than the apparent movement of the sun. We are also told “He will find the sea ankle deep for him” which is a fulfillment of the under water transportation including submarines.

There are many ahadith which discuss the donkey of the Dajjal. Some include:

“The Dajjal will make his appearance on a white donkey, whose two ears will be seventy yards apart (Mishkat. Ch. Al Dajjal)

“Underneath him will be a white donkey, the length of each of his two ears will be thirty years and between one leg of his donkey the other will be the distance of a day and nights journey” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7, Hadith #2998).

Jabir bin Abdullah narrated. That Prophetsaw while discussing about Dajjal said: And his donkey on which he will arrive, will have a span of 40 hands between his two ears.(Musnad Ahmad)

Now no Muslim should start to await a literal donkey because of this prophecy. The Holy Prophetsaw gave us enough signs for us to understand the fulfillment of this prophecy. The Holy Prophetsaw made it clear that this would not be a real donkey as he described its ears to be seventy yards apart which are not seen in the donkeys. The hadith also sttes that it would be white or shining color which is also not present in this animal. The ahadith also state its eating of fire, which we do not see either. The description makes complete sense for it to be a prophecy for the airplane and the railway train. The part where it is mentioned that one step would cover a journey of a day and a night refers to the distance which can be accomplished by walk in the amount of 24 hours, is a simple step for the Dajjal because of its transportation through this donkey. This further explains how Dajjal would use technology in such a way where it would forget about its true creator.The prophecies of the airplane are not only in the ahadith books accepted by the Sunni Muslims, but also in the Shia Books in great detail. For example:

“He would have regular stoppages on its way. At every stoppage the public would be invited to come and be seated before he resumes his journey, and every departure would be loudly announced” (Biharul Anwar, Babo Alamate Zouhuri Alaihis-salam min Al-Sufyani Wad Dajjal)

Dajjal And Its Treasures

The next hadith which will be discussed is as follows:

“And he will pass through a wilderness and will say to it: Bring forth thy treasures. So its treasures will follow him as the bees follow ther queen” (Mishkat Ch. Al-Dajjal)

This hadith is basically referring to Europe and how easily they find the hidden treasures of the earth. Wherever there is a treasure hidden, Europe would be the first to always find it whether it be gold or silver. All of the benefits which the treasures bring, are kept by Europte while the rest of the world is deprived of such treasures. This further shows the materialistic side to Dajjal and its greed for the treasures of this world rather than the treasures of the hereafter.

The Easy Life of Dajjal

The life of the ones who would folow the Dajjal would of course be much asier than the truthful people who follow Islam. The reason to this is because the ones who follow Dajjal would have more wealth and dother worldly treasures. There is a lot of wealth which Europe and America has from around the world, and because of this, people who follow the religion of Dajjal are quite often rewarded with higher salaries. In today’s age, one has to make friends with the Dajjal and liv side to side with these people to gain a good career. The Prophetsaw stated: “Whoever follows him, he gives him to eat, but also makes him n unbeliever” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 Hadith #2104). This hadith shows us that we need to be careful or this wealth of theres itself can cause us to become attached to this world and forget about the hereafter. The Dajjal and its ways has caused even Muslims to enjoin in eil rituals like dancing to their music, and other sinful behavior. the way of the Dajjal has even tempted many Muslims and non Muslims to fall on the wrong path and lose their relationship with Allah.

Strength of the Jews at the Time of the Dajjal

The Holy Prophetsaw made it clear that the Dajjal would have seventy thousand Jews with him and most of those who will follow him would indeed be the Jews and that there would be an army of Jews with him. However, it is not said that the Dajjal itself would be a Jew, rather some of the Christian nations are said to be the Dajjal. This of course, does not include everyone, rather only those who deceive. In fact, one interpretation is that this refers to the 70,000 Muslims who would become like those who opposed Hadhrat Isa(as) when he came. The expression of seventy thousand in Arabic refers to a large of amount of people and this is used in the Arabic lexicons. This shows that a large number of people will help the Dajjal and work with it. When we look at our world today, we see this fulfilled

Men Resembling Women, Women Resembling Men

There are many ahadith which show us that the women would begin to resemble men while men would resemble women. For example a hadith states: “And the women will assume the appearance of men and the men will assume the appearance of women” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 Hadith 2998)

This prophecy is also fulfilled as we see that in todays age we see men daily who are dressed as if they are women and we also see women daily who in todays age dress as if they are men. We also see a increase in homosexuality and see that it is now legal in many places around the world. These were all signs of the latter days and have all been fulfilled further showing that the Messiah has already come.

Reviving the Dead

A hadith of Bukhari stating a vision of the Prophet Muhammadsaw states:

Narrated Abu Sa`id:One day Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) narrated to us a long narration about Ad-Dajjal and among the things he narrated to us, was: “Ad-Dajjal will come, and he will be forbidden to enter the mountain passes of Medina. He will encamp in one of the salt areas neighboring Medina and there will appear to him a man who will be the best or one of the best of the people. He will say ‘I testify that you are Ad-Dajjal whose story Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) has told us.’ Ad-Dajjal will say (to his audience), ‘Look, if I kill this man and then give him life, will you have any doubt about my claim?’ They will reply, ‘No,’ Then Ad- Dajjal will kill that man and then will make him alive. The man will say, ‘By Allah, now I recognize you more than ever!’ Ad-Dajjal will then try to kill him (again) but he will not be given the power to do so.”(Sahih al Bukhari Hadith #7132)

Firstly, it is clear from the Qur’an that when someone dies, they will never return to this world. This is also mentiond in the ahadith, which is why this cannot be taken literally.

Allah clearly States that there is a barrier after one dies, until the Day of Resurrection:

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا جَاءَ أَحَدَهُمُ الْمَوْتُ قَالَ رَبِّ ارْجِعُونِ{100}

لَعَلِّي أَعْمَلُ صَالِحًا فِيمَا تَرَكْتُ ۚ كَلَّا ۚ إِنَّهَا كَلِمَةٌ هُوَ قَائِلُهَا ۖ وَمِنْ وَرَائِهِمْ بَرْزَخٌ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ {101}

Until, when death comes to one of them, he says entreating, ‘My Lord, send me back, That I may do righteous deeds in the life that I have left behind.’ Never, it is but a word that he utters. And behind them is a barrier until the day when they shall be raised again.(Chapter 23, Verse 100-101)

Allah also States that no one will return after their death:

وَحَرَامٌ عَلَىٰ قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَاهَا أَنَّهُمْ لَا يَرْجِعُونَ {96}

And it is an inviolable law for a township which We have destroyed that they shall not return.(Chapter 21 Verse 96)

Allah also States:

أَوْ تَقُولَ حِينَ تَرَى الْعَذَابَ لَوْ أَنَّ لِي كَرَّةً فَأَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُحْسِنِينَ {59}

بَلَىٰ قَدْ جَاءَتْكَ آيَاتِي فَكَذَّبْتَ بِهَا وَاسْتَكْبَرْتَ وَكُنْتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ {60}

“Or lest it should say, when it sees the punishment, ‘Would that there were for me a return to the world, I would then be among those who do good!’”God will answer, ‘Aye, there came to thee My Signs, but thou didst treat them as lies, and thou wast arrogant, and thou wast of the disbelievers.’(Chapter 39 Verses 59-60)

Allah Has also Stated:

كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَكُنْتُمْ أَمْوَاتًا فَأَحْيَاكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ {29}

How can you disbelieve in Allah? When you were without life, He gave you life, and then He will cause you to die, then restore you to life, and then to Him shall you be made to return.(Chapter 2 Verse 29)

Allah further States:

قُلِ اللَّهُ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يَجْمَعُكُمْ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ {27}

Say, ‘It is Allah Who gives you life, then causes you to die; then He will gather you together unto the Day of Resurrection about which there is no doubt. But most men know not.’(Chapter 45 Verse 27)

Allah Has also explained the life cycle of a human being. Allah States:

قَالَ فِيهَا تَحْيَوْنَ وَفِيهَا تَمُوتُونَ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرَجُونَ {26}

He said, ‘Therein shall you live, and therein shall you die, and therefrom shall you be brought forth.’(Chapter 7 Verse 26)

Allah Also States:

اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنْفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي لَمْ تَمُتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا ۖ فَيُمْسِكُ الَّتِي قَضَىٰ عَلَيْهَا الْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ الْأُخْرَىٰ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ {43}

Allah takes away the souls of human beings at the time of their death; and during their sleep of those also that are not yet dead. And then He retains those against which He has decreed death, and sends back the others till an appointed term. In that surely are Signs for a people who reflect.(Chapter 39 Verse 43)

Here is a beautiful story from the Life of Muhammadsaw, which further shows that no one returns to the earth, from death:

Narrated Musa bin Ibrahim bin Kathir Al-Ansari:“I heard Talhah bin Khirash say: ‘I heard Jabir bin ‘Abdullah saying: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) met me and said to me: ‘O Jabir! Why do I see you upset?’ I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! My father was martyred (on the Day of Uhud) leaving my family and debt behind.’” “He (ﷺ) said: ‘Shall I give you news of what your father met Allah with?’” He said: “But of course O Messenger of Allah!” He said: ‘Allah does not speak to anyone except from behind a veil, but He brought your father to speak to Him directly. He said: “[O My slave!] Do you wish that I give you anything?” He said: ‘O Lord! Give me life so that I may fight for You a second time.’ So the Lord [Blessed and Most High] said: ‘It has been decreed by Me that they shall not return (21:96).’ He said: “So this Ayah was revealed: Think not of those as dead who are killed in the way of Allah (3:169).(Tirmidhi, Volume 5, Book 44, Hadith #3010)

In this context the statement of giving life to the dead simply shows that there would be a lot of cures to diseases which will seem incurable and will be like life was given to the dead. It is quite true that the technology has advanced to a level were a lot of diseases, which one would think are incurable, as cured. This is also the reason the life giving hadith sign is mentioned in Kanzul Ummal with two diseases. It is stated:

” The Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw stated in regards to dajjal “And he will cure the blind and the lepers and will revive the dead” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7 #2080)

Evil of the Dajjal

It is clear from the ahadith that the way Dajjal would take over will not be by forcing people, rather it would tempt the world with the power it will have and misguide them through the provisions of this world. A hadith states:

“Whoever hears about the Dajjal, let him keep away from him. For by God, it will so happen that a man will come to him believing that he is a believer, but he will become his follower on account of the doubts he will raise in his mind”(Kanzul-Ummal volume 7, Hadith #2057)

It is quite clear that the way Dajjal is taking over, is not something the world was ever used to. The western nations are the strongest nations in hsitory and their evil drags people away from the belief of God. One clear example is education, which can be a source of guidance but a source of misguidance as wwell. There are courses in education for example which are about Islam but make Islam look like a false religion. They themselves believe in a God but make others faith in danger through their false ideologies and false allegations. Many listen to what the Christian nations also say and are brainwashed because of their preaching, which include a man dying for their sins and given them a false guarantee of salvation which their own scriptures declare as vain.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas states:

“The word ‘Messiah’ refers to the truthful one whose Masah (i.e. touch) as been blessed by God, and whose breath, word and speech have been given the power to give life. This word particularly applies to the Prophet who does not wage war and reforms mankind through his spiritual power alone. As against this, the word ‘Messiah’ also applies to the Promised Dajjal whose evil power and influence produce calamities, atheism and faithlessness. Even without employing coercive means to destroy the truth, he can make righteousness and love for God grow cold merely by concentration, speech, writing, association and by the influence of his satanic spirit. On the other hand, misconduct, drunkenness, lying, promiscuity, materialism, fraud, tyranny, oppression, famine and epidemics become the order of the day. These are the meanings which emerge from a collective study of standard Arabic lexicons like Lisan-ul-‘Arab; and these are the meanings which God has disclosed to me.” (Ayyam-us-Sulh, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 14, Page 294)

Lake Of Tiberias

The Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw stated:

And then Allah would send Gog and Magog and they would swarm down from every slope. The first of them would pass the lake of Tiberias and drink out of it. And when the last of them would pass, he would say: There was once water there.(Sahih Muslim 2937 a)

This hadith refers to the Dajjal and Gog and Magog taking control of all provisions of life, as water is the source of life. A further interpretation of this is also that they would take away the relationship a person has with God as water refers to communion with Allah as well. Furthermore, it is also important to note that the Lake of Tiberius is now physically low in regards to the amount of water left in it, and this is historically recorded.

The Vision of Tamim Dari

He came out and said: The talk of Tamim ad-Dari detained me. He transmitted it to me from a man who was on of of the islands of the sea. All of a sudden he found a woman who was trailing her hair. He asked: Who are you? She said: I am the Jassasah. Go to that castle. So I came to it and found a man who was trailing his hair, chained in iron collars, and leaping between Heaven and Earth. I asked: Who are you? He replied: I am the Dajjal (Antichrist). Has the Prophet of the unlettered people come forth now? I replied: Yes. He said: Have they obeyed him or disobeyed him? I said: No, they have obeyed him. He said: That is better for them. (Sunan Abi Dawud 4325)

Firstly, it is important to understand that this was a vision of the companion of the Holy Prophetsaw. It is clear that this was a vision by the fact that Dajjal in the vision asks about the Holy Prophetsaw and whether he has come. The question is that how did Dajjal know that the Prophetsaw has already come into this world? It is quite evident that he was not given revelation. Some questions which arise are who tied the Dajjal? We are told that only The Messiah would be able to kill him, so which person had the power to tie him onto chains? Why did Jassasah, the spy, not release him? This hadith shows us that Dajjal lives on some sort of Island which is a months journey from Syria. This also shows us that Dajjal even existed at the Prophet’s time further proving the  Ahmadiyya point of view. This clearly refers to the Western Islands which are the homelands of the dajjal. It also proves Christianity to be Dajjal since the spy tells the man to go to the church or castle, which is a clear symbol of Christianity. Another interpretation is that it simply refers to the Islands where the Christians are basically chained into their churches and are always busy in the worship of Jesus. Furthermore, Ibn Sirin in his Dream of Interpretations has stated that if you see a person in chains it means he will continue decieving, cheating and robbing people, which are clear characteristics of Dajjal.

The Place of Dajjal

According to the Ahadith of the Holy Prophetsaw, it is clear that the Dajjal would appear in the east. Hesaw stated:

“Nay, He will appear in the East; nay, he will appear in the East, nay he will appear in the East” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7, Hadith #2991)

We are told that the drea of the Dajjal is an Island in the West, but are also told that he would manifest in the East. This itself shows that the dominance of the Dajjal will harm people in the East. According to the ahadith it is clear that the Dajjal did exist at the time of the Prophetsaw but during those days its hands and feet were shackled, meaning the impact of the Christians and other nations were non existent. During that time the European nations were confined to their own lands but in todays age they are taking possession of all of the countries.

The Promised Messiah and Killing of the Dajjal

It is clear that the one who was able to disclose the true identity of the Dajjal in our time was no other than Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas of Qadian who stated “This is the Dajjal about whom the Holy Prophet spoke”. Some bring up the allegation of how Ahmadas did not kill the Dajjal. The ahadith books are clear that the illing of the Dajjal would not be a physical killing, rather it would be a killing through arguements. The killing of the Dajjal is metaphorical and not literal. If the descriptions of the Dajjal are metaphorical, why would the killing be literal? The heaven of the Dajjal is not in actuality heaven, the fire is not actual fire, the giving life is not truly reviving the dead, and the donkey is not literal either. If all of its signs are known to have metaphorical meanings, why would the killing be physical alone, despite the fact the Dajjal is not a single person? Such an interpretation is unacceptable.

Allah tells us in the Qur’an that in reality death and life are with the proofs one has. Allah States:

إِذْ أَنْتُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الدُّنْيَا وَهُمْ بِالْعُدْوَةِ الْقُصْوَىٰ وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنْكُمْ ۚ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدْتُمْ لَاخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِي الْمِيعَادِ ۙ وَلَٰكِنْ لِيَقْضِيَ اللَّهُ أَمْرًا كَانَ مَفْعُولًا لِيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَنْ بَيِّنَةٍ وَيَحْيَىٰ مَنْ حَيَّ عَنْ بَيِّنَةٍ ۗ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ {43}

When you were on the nearer bank of the valley, and they were on the farther bank, and the caravan was below you. And if you had to make a mutual appointment, you would have certainly differed with regard to the appointment. But the encounter was brought about that Allah might accomplish the thing that was decreed; so that he who had already perished through a clear Sign might perish, and he who had already come to life through a clear Sign might live. And certainly Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.(Chapter 8 Verse 43)

The Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw also made it clear that the Dajjal would be killed through argments and proofs, rather than a physical killing:

“When he (Dajjal) makes his appearance and I am in your midst, I will overpower him by arguments, and if, when he makes his appearance, I am not in your midst, every one should arue with him” (Kanzul Umamal, Volume 7. Hadith #2076)

Hesaw also stated:

“So when he makes his appearance and I am in your midst, I will overpower him with arguments on behalf of every Muslim, but if he appears after me everyone should argue with him on his own behalf” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7, Hadith #2025, #2079)

This clearly proves that the killing of Dajjal would indeed be by arguments which will destroy its entire ideology. The Messiah killing the Dajjal was indeed the sme way the prophetsaw said he would overpower Dajjal, which is by arguments. The meaning of Qatl is also available in the Arabic lexicons. It is stated in Nihaya, a famous dictionary of Ahadith, that the meaning of “qatala Allahu Sa’d-an (my God kill S’ad) refers to God warding off his mischief. The same is said in regards to the hadith of when there are two present khalifas at once, kill the latter one. Many scholars believe this to be killing and rejecting the claims of that khalifa rather than physically killing the false claimant. The killing of Dajjal cannot mean physically kill all of the Christian nations as the Qur’an has already told us that they would remain till the Day of Judgment.

It is also clear from the ahadith that the Dajjal would be causing mischief so it is obvious that it is the mischief which needs to be stopped as a hadith tells us “By god a man will come to Dajjal confident that he is a Muslim, but he will become his follower because of the doubts he will raise in his mind” and “whoever says, Allah is my Lord, and continues to do so till he dies, God will keep him safe from the mischief of the Dajjal” (Kanzul Ummal Volume 7, Hadith #2080)

Another hadith states : “Verily, God will keep a believer safe through the same thing which he saves the angels, the glorification of Him” (Kanzul Ummal, Volume 7 Hadith #2090)

This clearly shows us that a believer will be safe from the troubles and fraud of Dajjal if he was to properly follow Allah and Glorify Him. The real way one s saved from Dajjal is indeed by following Allah as their Lord, as this way they can never think about the beliefs of the Christians for even a split second. This shows that the Messiah’s duty of kling the Dajjal would also be to refute his claims and safeguard the people from the arguments of the Christians as Ahmadas beautifully did.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas states:

“Remember, it is also written about the Messiah—the bearer of spiritual blessings, whose advent in the latter days has been promised to the Muslims—that he would slay the Promised Dajjal. But it does not mean he will actually kill him with a gun or a sword. What it means is that he will do away with all deceitful innovations in religion. A study of Ahadith reveals that Dajjal is actually the name of Satan. And the people whom Satan will employ to serve his purpose are also metaphorically called Dajjal, because they are like his limbs. The following verse of the Holy Qur’an means that the creation of God is far greater than that of men:

لَخَلْقُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ النَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ {40:58}

Certainly, the creation of the heavens and the earth is greater than the creation of mankind; but most men know not.(Chapter 40 Verse 58)

It refers the people concerning whom it is written that they would make great inventions in the latter days and will try to interfere with God’s creation. According to the commentators [of the Holy Qur’an], the people mentioned here are actually the Dajjal. This indicates that Dajjal does not mean one single person, or else the expression Nas [people] would not have been applied to him. The word undoubtedly refers to a group of people. The group that acts under the command of Satan is called Dajjal. This is also indicated by the sequence of the Holy Qur’an which begins with the verse:

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ {1:2}

All Praise belongs to Allah (Chapter 1 Verse 2)

and concludes with:

الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ {6} مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ {7}

Who whispers into the hearts of men, from among the Jinn and Mankind (Chapter 114, Verses 6-7)

In this verse too the word Nas refers to the Dajjal…. Mentioning these people at the end also indicates that this group of people will be supreme in the latter days, and they will be accompanied by:

نَّفَّاثَاتِ فِي الْعُقَدِ {4}

i.e., Christian women who will go from house to house seeking to separate wives from their husbands, and to break the bond of marriage.

It should never be forgotten that the last three chapters of the Holy Qur’an contain a warning about the age of Dajjal and we have been enjoined to seek refuge with God against the mischief of that time. This is an indication that the mischief of those days will only be dispelled through the heavenly light and blessings which the heavenly Messiah will bring with him.”(Ayyam-us-Sulh, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 14, Pages 296-297)

The Meaning of Dajjal Circuiting the Ka’bah

In regards to the vision of the Holy Prophet Muhammadsaw states of Dajjal circuiting the Ka’bah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas states:

” Our Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saw in a vision that the Dajjal was performing the circuit of the Ka‘bah, and was doing it stealthily, like a thief, so that he could destroy the Ka‘bah whenever the opportunity offered…. Obviously, no one can say that the Dajjal would actually become a Muslim and perform the circuit of the Ka‘bah. Every intelligent person will interpret this revelation as a vision through which the spiritual condition of the Dajjal was revealed to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and that this allegory presented itself to him in a vision in which he saw the Dajjal was circuiting the Ka‘bah like an actual person. What it meant was that the Dajjal would be a bitter enemy of Islam and would hover around the Ka‘bah with evil intentions. We know that just as the watchman goes around the houses at night, so does a thief. But while the watchman seeks to protect the houses and to catch the thief, the thief’s motive is to steal and plunder. Thus the interpretation of this vision of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is that the Dajjal will be preoccupied with trying to violate the sanctity of the Ka‘bah, while the Promised Messiah, who was also seen performing circuit of the Ka‘bah, would be busy protecting the House of Allah and trying to apprehend the Dajjal.”(Ayyam-us-Sulh, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 14, Pages 274-275)

And:

” The fact that both the Promised Messiah and the Dajjal will perform circuits of the Ka‘bah proves that this does not mean that they will physically perform circuits of the Ka‘bah, for in that case we would have to concede that the Dajjal will succeed in entering the Ka‘bah or that he will become a Muslim; both of which assertions go against the clear purport of Ahadith. This Hadith has to be interpreted, and the interpretation which God has made manifest to me is that, in the latter days, a group of people will emerge who will be called Dajjal. This group will be a bitter enemy of Islam, and, in order to completely bring down the structure of Islam, it will go circuiting round the Ka‘bah, which is the centre of Islam, like a thief. As against this, the Promised Messiah will also perform the circuit of the centre of Islam, which the Ka‘bah symbolises. The purpose of the Promised Messiah in performing the circuit of the Ka‘bah would be to apprehend the thief named Dajjal, and to safeguard the centre of Islam from his designs. We know that the thief goes around the houses at night and so does a watchman, but while the purpose of the thief is to rob and plunder a household, the purpose of the watchman is to apprehend the thief and to have him locked behind bars so that people are safeguarded from his mischief. Thus this Hadith indicates that in the latter days the thief, who is designated Dajjal, will try his utmost to demolish the structure of Islam, and that the Promised Messiah, out of his devotion to Islam, will raise his supplications to heaven, and that all angels will lend him their support so that he should be victorious in this last final battle. He will neither get tired, nor dejected, nor will he slacken his efforts, but will try his utmost to catch the thief. When his supplications reach their climax, God will see how his heart has melted in his love for Islam. Heaven will do what the earth cannot. And the victory that cannot be achieved by man will be won at the hands of angels.” (Haqiqat-ul-Wahi, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 22, Pages 323-32)

He also beautifully states:

” If—God forbid—it had truly been written in the Holy Qur’an that, contrary to the Divine law which binds all of mankind, Jesus was raised bodily to heaven and will survive till the Day of Judgment, the Christians would have been furnished with tremendous means to mislead mankind. Excellent, therefore, it is that the god of the Christians suffered death. This assault that has been mounted by this humble one, on behalf of God Almighty, in his character as messiah son of Mary, against the people of Dajjal-like character who were bestowed holy things but mixed them with pollution and who performed that which should have been performed by Dajjal, is not in any respect less than an assault with a sharp sword. It may be asked: Jesus, son of Mary, was to come to vanquish the Dajjal, and if it is you who have come in the spirit of Jesus, son of Mary, who then is the Dajjal against you? My answer is that, though I admit the possibility of another Messiah son of Mary coming after me, and he may even be the promised one in the context of some Ahadith, and a Dajjal may also come to mislead the Muslims, yet my belief is that so far there has not been any Dajjal like the Christian clergy of these days, nor shall there ever be till the Day of Judgment. A Hadith of Muslim reads:

‘Imran son of Husain reports: I heard the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: From the creation of Adamas to the Judgment Day there will be no greater catastrophe than that of the Dajjal….

Considering the import of this Hadith of Muslim, I say that if we were to examine all documentary evidence available to us from the creation of Adamas to this day, and examine the activities of all those who have ever taken upon themselves to do the work of Dajjal, we shall not find anything matching the Dajjal-like activity of the Christian clergy of this day. They have in mind an imaginary Messiah who, according to them, is alive and claims to be God. Jesus son of Mary never made any such claim, rather it is these self-appointed advocates of his who claim that he is God. They have had recourse to every kind of distortion and deception in support of their claim, and there is hardly a place, with the exception of Mecca and Medina, where they have not gone in pursuit of their objective. There is no form of deception, conspiracy or design to mislead, which they have not adopted. Is it not true that in pursuit of their Dajjal-like designs they have encircled the whole world? Wherever they go and establish a mission they turn everything upside down. They are so wealthy that all the treasures of the world seem to lie at their feet. Although the British Government is concerned only with administration and has no concern with religion, the missionaries have a government of their own which possesses unlimited wealth and is spreading its tentacles all over the world. They carry with them all kinds of heaven and hell. One who is inclined to follow them is shown the heaven, and the one who chooses to oppose them is threatened with hell. They are accompanied by mountains of bread wherever they go, and many, who are the slaves of their stomachs, are carried away by the sight of white loaves of bread, and start proclaiming: ‘The Messiah is our Lord.’ There is no quality of the Messianic Dajjal that is not to be found in them. In a manner, they even revive the dead and kill the living. (Let him who possesses understating understand.) And there is no doubt that these people possess only one eye, which is the left one. If they possessed the right eye as well, they would have feared God Almighty and refrained from deifying Jesus. All previous scriptures mention this Dajjal, as do the Gospels on the authority of Jesus son of Mary. It was only proper that every Prophet should have warned against this Dajjal, and each of them has done so, whether expressly or implicitly, directly or indirectly. From the time of Noah down to the time of our lord and master, Seal of the Prophets (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we find warnings about this Dajjal, and this is something I can readily prove. No one can even imagine the extent of the damage that Islam has suffered at their hands and how truth and justice have suffered. Prior to the thirteenth century of the blessed Hijra, there was no trace of such mischief. But around the middle of the thirteenth century this Dajjallike group suddenly emerged and started to expand progressively, until at the end of this century, according to Reverend Mr. Baker, half a million people had been converted to Christianity in India alone, and it is estimated that every twelve years one hundred thousands new converts enter the fold of Christianity and start to believe in a humble man as God. No sensible person can be unaware of the fact that Christian missionaries have brought under their sway a large number of poor and needy Muslims by giving them bread and clothes; those who could not be lured by these means were seduced through women; and those who could not be so trapped were exposed to all kinds of atheistic philosophy which now holds captive hundreds of thousands of young Muslims, who make fun of the Islamic prayer and fasting and consider revelation to be a kind of hallucination. For those who are not able to learn European philosophy, a large stock of fictitious tales was cooked up—too easy a job for the clerics’ sleight of hand— which derided Islam in the guise of stories and historical events and was very widely published. In addition, they compiled countless books in refutation of Islam, blaspheming our lord and master the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and widely distributed them free of cost. Most of these have been translated into other languages…. Allah is Great. If our people still do not consider these missionaries to be Dajjal of the highest order, for whose refutation a Messiah is needed, then the plight of our people is pitiable indeed! Look, ye heedless ones, just look how hard these people are trying to demolish the edifice of Islam and what large resources they have employed for this purpose. In their endeavours they have exposed their lives to danger, spent their wealth like water, and indeed they have carried their human abilities to the limit. They have adopted shameful means and implemented them to undermine righteousness, and they have laid down mines to destroy the truth and honesty. All the finely fabricated details of falsehood and pretence have been strenuously invented to bring ruin to Islam. If people’s minds could not be corrupted by other means, they invented thousands of supposed stories and dialogues to do this. Is there any method of the ruin of truth that they have not invented? Is there any way of misguidance that they have not adopted? Thus it becomes obvious that all these tricks and charms which the Christians and advocates of Trinity have resorted to, could not proceed from anyone but the great Dajjal and we have no choice but to identify this group of Christian missionaries with him. When we observe to the past history of the greater part of the world, we gain the impression that, as far as it can be ascertained, there has been no precedent of such successful deception and misguidance as undertaken by these people. And as the Ahadith say, the Dajjal will cause such mischief as would be unmatched since the beginning of the world. It follows, therefore, that these people are the great Dajjal who was to come from the church, and to counter whose magic a miracle was needed. He who disputes this should produce a matching instance from the Dajjals of the past.” (Izala-e-Auham, Ruhani Khazain, Volume 3, Pages 361-366)
