I Can Be Wrong Or Right?
This allegaton is firstly mistranslated to deceive people, and secondly the correct translation has no issue with it. The real translation is:
” I shall respond along with the Messenger and will postpone or cancel My decree at certain times and will fulfil it at other times”
This does not in any way refer to right or wrong rather it refers to the decree of Allah and an example from the Qur’an itself where such a case has occurred is the people of Jonahas. Allah removed their punishment and did not end up punishing them because they had repented. Allah States:
وَلَوْ جَاءَتْهُمْ كُلُّ آيَةٍ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ {98} فَلَوْلَا كَانَتْ قَرْيَةٌ آمَنَتْ فَنَفَعَهَا إِيمَانُهَا إِلَّا قَوْمَ يُونُسَ لَمَّا آمَنُوا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمْ عَذَابَ الْخِزْيِ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا وَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ{99}
Even if there come to them every Sign, till they see the grievous punishment.Why was there no other people, save the people of Jonah, who should have believed so that their belief would have profited them? When they believed, We removed from them the punishment of disgrace in the present life, and We gave them provision for a while.(Chapter 10 Verse 98-99)
This revelation is in the same manenr and is simply stating that Allah always forgives when a person sincerely repents. Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadasstates:
” The words of this divine revelation literally means that: At times, I will fault and at times be right; meaning that sometimes I will do as I wish and at other times I will not. And sometimes my intent would be achieved, and other times not. Such words do occur in the Word of God Almighty. As a hadith narrates [that Allah the Almighty says]: ‘At times, I hesitate to take the soul of a believer;’ whereas Allah is free from hesitation. This revelation that ‘Sometimes My intent is achieved and others not’ has a similar import. It means that sometimes I cancel My intent and decree, and others it is fulfilled as I desire.”(Haqiqatul -Wahi, p. 103 footnote, Ruhani Khaza’in, vol. 22, p. 106 footnote)
The hadith Ahmadas referred to is:
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “ إِنَّ اللَّهَ قَالَ مَنْ عَادَى لِي وَلِيًّا فَقَدْ آذَنْتُهُ بِالْحَرْبِ، وَمَا تَقَرَّبَ إِلَىَّ عَبْدِي بِشَىْءٍ أَحَبَّ إِلَىَّ مِمَّا افْتَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِ، وَمَا يَزَالُ عَبْدِي يَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَىَّ بِالنَّوَافِلِ حَتَّى أُحِبَّهُ، فَإِذَا أَحْبَبْتُهُ كُنْتُ سَمْعَهُ الَّذِي يَسْمَعُ بِهِ، وَبَصَرَهُ الَّذِي يُبْصِرُ بِهِ، وَيَدَهُ الَّتِي يَبْطُشُ بِهَا وَرِجْلَهُ الَّتِي يَمْشِي بِهَا، وَإِنْ سَأَلَنِي لأُعْطِيَنَّهُ، وَلَئِنِ اسْتَعَاذَنِي لأُعِيذَنَّهُ، وَمَا تَرَدَّدْتُ عَنْ شَىْءٍ أَنَا فَاعِلُهُ تَرَدُّدِي عَنْ نَفْسِ الْمُؤْمِنِ، يَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ وَأَنَا أَكْرَهُ مَسَاءَتَهُ ”.
Narrated Abu Huraira:Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Allah said, ‘I will declare war against him who shows hostility to a pious worshipper of Mine. And the most beloved things with which My slave comes nearer to Me, is what I have enjoined upon him; and My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, so I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees, and his hand with which he grips, and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will give him, and if he asks My protection (Refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My Refuge) and I do not hesitate to do anything as I hesitate to take the soul of the believer, for he hates death, and I hate to disappoint him.”(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith #6502)
